IN LOVE WITH THIS LOOK. THAT BUN. THAT BUN. I LOVE A MESSY BUN.

“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, “This is what it is to be happy.”

GORGEOUS HUMAN BEING

“Signs of adulthood: Realizing, yes, that the remainder of your life will be about you choosing to be happy; about applying yourself to retain a measure of sanity despite unpleasant variables, i.e. your mother having cancer, your husband shipped to the wilderness, your own medical test results painfully slow coming. It will be about recognizing the depth of this phrase: This is all you have.

It’s funny (see: curious) to think about happiness over the age of 21. How often do you actually feel happy? Or, how many times do you delude yourself by justifying your own unhappiness? Example: You will relax into happiness once your debt is cleared; once your test results come back as hoped; once you move out of your crumbling apartment, etc. An adult move is realizing that if you don’t stop and choose the hard work of simply being happy, happiness will always elude you. Once you hit 21, happiness is no longer automatic nor guaranteed.”
